Walnut stain with what appears to be a clear finish. I don't know if it's waterproof or not, but water beaded up on it. Because I live in the rainy Northwest, I think that I'll give it a coat of urethane just to make sure. The wheels are plenty solid enough to support a heavy pot with brakes on two of them. For the price point you would be hard pressed to find a better deal.
